Health worker training
Building the capacity of local healthcare providers through clinical supervision and mentoring.
National family planning training program
We support provincial health workers to deliver family planning and sexual reproductive health services through the National Family Planning Training Program (NFPTP).
Providing training across Papua New Guinea
The provincial health workers that are part of our NFPTP network work across all regions in PNG, increasing the reach for high-quality family planning services in government run health facilities.
Often these trained community health workers, nursing officers and midwives have a deep understanding of the need for contraception in their community, and are keen to bring this service to their patients. Not only are they interested in improving their clinical skills to provide sexual and reproductive health services but they are also wanting to improve the health and well-being of the families in their communities.
Mentorship and guidance
We want to make sure the services we offer in Papua New Guinea are available forever, even if we’re no longer the ones delivering them.
That’s why we consider it our duty to help build the capacity of the country’s local health sector. Sine 2014 we have trained over 500 government health providers – they receive their certificate of competency after fourteen months of clinical supervision and mentoring by Marie Stopes Papua New Guinea team members.
